**Down Ballot Staff Reports**

The South Carolina governor's race now has three candidates, all are in the Republican Party. 

Current Lt. Gov. Pam Evette announced her intention to run for the office Monday in [Greenville](https://www.greenvilleonline.com/story/news/politics/2025/07/14/south-carolina-lt-gov-pamela-evette-joins-2026-governors-race/85198699007/?ref=down-ballot.info). 

She will join current Attorney General Alan Wilson and Spartanburg County State Senator Josh Kimbrell, who already announced their candidacy. 

On Thursday July 10, a business colleague of Kimbrell's [filed](https://www.wistv.com/2025/07/13/lawsuit-against-sc-senator-running-governor-claims-2-million-fraud/?ref=down-ballot.info) a civil lawsuit in Greenville County Court of Common Pleas alleging Kimbrell used money from their business to fund his gubernatorial campaign.
