The tax bills are mailed directly to the party responsible for payment — either property owners or mortgage companies that are escrowing property taxes. The Tax Administration office will send property tax courtesy statements to approximately 50,040 property owners who escrow their property taxes.
Tax Rate. The county tax rate for the fiscal year 2025-2026 is 43.42 cents per $100 assessed valuation. View Union County budget information by on our Budget webpage.
Due Date. Property taxes are due September 1, 2025. To avoid interest charges, property tax payments must be paid on or before January 5, 2026.
Late Payments. Payments postmarked on or after January 5, 2026, will be charged a two-percent interest penalty for the month of January and an additional three-fourths percent every month thereafter, until the bill is paid in full including interest and fees. All unpaid taxes are subject to advertisement in the local newspaper, and an additional advertising fee will be added to each bill.
Payment Assistance. If you need assistance paying your annual tax bill beyond the four payment vouchers included in tax bills this year, arrangements must be made with the Tax Office no later than December 15, 2025. The first payment is required at the time of the arrangement. For more information on payment plans, contact the Tax Office at 704.283.3848.
Payment Vouchers. This payment option enables property owners to split the total cost of their tax payments into four equal amounts due at four separate times in September, October, November, and December 2025. The vouchers are automatically included in all non-escrowed tax bills for fiscal year 2025-2026. For more information, call the Tax Office at 704.283.3848.
