North Carolina launches website to attract displaced federal workers

North Carolina recently launched a website encouraging recently displaced federal workers or Hurricane Helene to work for state government, according to a recent statement from Governor Josh Stein's office.

“If you have recently been displaced from your career of service, North Carolina encourages you to apply,” said Office of State Human Resources Director Staci Meyer. “My team at OSHR will help you find a job that matches your needs.”

Those interested in a job with the state of North Carolina may apply here.

The website is one of the steps the state is taking to fill its many vacancies.

North Carolina state government has more than 1,000 open jobs, however, it takes 182 days to fill a position.

According to NC Newsline, the state’s new Human Resources Director told lawmakers they needed to overhaul its HR system.

Wake County is the home of Raleigh, the state capitol. It also has 303 vacancies, the highest in the state.

Of the more than 1,000 job vacancies, 715 of them have an annual salary of $60,000 or more while 192 pay more than $100,000.
