S.C. Senate subcommittee to hold Oct. 1 meeting on anti-abortion bill

A subcommittee of the S.C. Senate's Medical Affairs Committee is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 9:30 to amend Senate Bill 323, the so-called "Unborn Child Protection Act".

Sen. Richard Cash (R-Anderson) introduced the bill on Feb. 6 and it was referred to the Medical Affairs Committee.

The bill's objectives include eliminating the exceptions for rape and incest, provide for prosecuting pregnant women who obtain an abortion and license suspension and revocation for physicians who perform abortions.
