South Carolina's Largest Colleges See Surge in Fall 2025 Applicants

South Carolina's largest universities have seen an increase in applications with many from other states.
The University of South Carolina, Clemson University, the College of Charleston and Coastal Carolina University received a record amount of applications for the fall 2025 term.
According to the South Carolina Daily Gazette, all four of the Palmetto State's public four-year colleges enrolled a total of 2,300 freshmen from New York and New Jersey, 1,375 from Maryland and Virginia, nearly 800 from Pennsylvania and 600 from Massachusetts.
According to data from the state's Commission on Higher Education, 991 students from North Carolina and 809 Georgia residents crossed state lines to study in South Carolina.
